Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System Installation - 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited- Video
Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look and installing the Blue Ox Patriot Portable Braking System on a 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. When it comes to flat towing any vehicle, there's gonna be five main components that are gonna be required. Now you may have a few auxiliary things that you're gonna want to add in, but these are gonna cover at least safely getting your vehicle down the road. And starting on the vehicle side, we have our base plate and this is gonna attach to the frame of the vehicle and create the structural mounting point for the rest of the components. And that's where our tow bar is gonna hook up to the arms. The tow bar is gonna be the physical connection between the hitch on the RV and the base plate on your towed vehicle. more

Hey, guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you how to install the Demco Air Force One Supplemental Braking System with Coachlink on our 2024 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Your five main components are going to be your tow bar, which will connect your RV to your Jeep, your base plate, which is a physical connection that the tow bar connects to, your supplemental braking system, which helps the Jeep to come to a safe and slow stop behind the motorhome, your diode wiring kit, which is going to transfer the lighting signals from the back of your motorhome to the back of your Jeep, and then finally, your safety cables. This is going to come into play in an unlikely disconnect. If the tow bar we inchesre to ever come disconnected from the Jeep, those safety cables are gonna kick in and keep the Jeep behind you so that you can get over to the side of the road and come to a safe and slow stop. Now, the way this kit is going to work is it's going to take an air signal from your coach and apply the brakes on the inside of your Jeep while you're flat towing it down the road. more

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look and installing the Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO Braking System on a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Now this is gonna be available in two different configurations and it really comes down to which way you want to indicate that the brakes are being applied. Today we have our wireless CoachLink, which is really nice. It allows you to see that on the dash of the vehicle, but it's also available in a three LED light up configuration as well. Now there's five main components required when flat towing your Wrangler and starting on the vehicle side we have our base plate and that attaches to the frame of the vehicle creating a structural mounting point for your tow bar and all the rest of your components. Your tow bar is the connection point between the base plate and the hitch on the RV. more

Before we do that though, let's take a minute, check this out and make sure it's something you're actually gonna need. When it comes to the stop light switch, you know, there's not really a whole lot to it but it is important to understand the purpose of it. And its purpose is to send a signal to your braking system's indicator light, letting it know that hey, the actual brake pedal in the Jeep is being pushed down by the supplemental braking system. And there's a few systems that I can think of right off the top of my head that would greatly benefit from the stop light switch, the Stay-IN-Play DUO, as well as the Stay-IN-Play DUO that has a wireless coach link and the Roadmaster InvisiBrake. more

Hello neighbors. It's Brad here at etrailer and today we're taking a look at the Brake Buddy select three proportional breaking system and portable breaking system on a 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. This is what our Brake Buddy looks like when it's installed and you can see it just uses a clamp to clamp out on the brake pedal and attached to that is gonna be an actuating arm. Now pretty easy when the brakes are applied on the RV, it's gonna apply the brakes on the vehicle as well. And that's gonna bring the towed vehicle to a slow or a stop proportional to what you are doing with the RV. It also has a breakaway switch, so in case of an accidental disconnect, it's gonna apply the brakes bringing the vehicle to a stop. more

Hey everybody, how's it going Today we're gonna be going over and showing you how to install the Demco Stay-IN-Play supplemental breaking system here on our 2016 Jeep Wrangler unlimited. So what is a supplemental breaking system and what does it do Now, for starters, it is required by law in pretty much every state for vehicles over a certain weight, and it's safe to say here that that Jeep is gonna exceed that weight in every state. Therefore it is gonna be required to successfully flat tow to your vehicle. Now essentially what it does is, it's going take the strain off the brakes in your motorhome, 'cause you're actually gonna be applying the brakes in your vehicle, each time you apply the brakes in the motorhome. So this is not only gonna reduce wear and tear on your motorhome, it's also gonna allow you to come to a much more smooth and effective stop. So you do need to adjust your system before you start out. more

Hi there, Jeep owners. Today on your 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install Demco's Air Force One Supplemental Braking System. The Air Force One Supplemental Braking System is a truly proportional braking system that uses the air pressure from your motor home, transfers it to the actuator and the cylinder on the brake pedal inside of your vehicle to apply the brakes that matches the proper output on your pedal. And what this means is the harder you press the brakes inside your motor home, the harder it's going to apply the brakes in your vehicle. And likewise, when you just press them softly coming to a stop, it's going to be proportional with the brake inside of your vehicle here.The actuating unit here under the hood is going to monitor that air input from your motor home and then apply the appropriate amount out to apply the pedal in your vehicle. This unit also has wiring on it that connects to a breakaway switch so unfortunate event that you do have a catastrophic disconnect, the pin will pull and it will activate the unit using the air that is stored inside the unit from your motor home to apply the brakes in your vehicle so it can come to a safe stop.The actuating cylinder here on the pedal is tethered to the firewall and whenever it receives air from the unit, it will pressurize the cylinder and will cause it to pull the pedal towards the firewall, using the anchor point here. more

Now, keep in mind that it's only going to be one component you need for a complete safe flat tow setup. For its complete setup, you're going to need a base plate, a tow bar, tow bar wiring, a braking system, and finally safety cables. And whenever you're flat towing your Jeep, it is important to have a supplemental braking system. Because let's face it, our Jeep may not weigh that much, but we're adding quite a bit to the back of our motor home and we're relying on our motor home to not only stop itself, but also slow our Jeep down.So it can have a very big effect on our braking performance and the wear and tear that's on our motor home, not to mention our Jeep. So having that supplemental braking system will allow the Jeep to slow and stop itself down while we're towing it, so that whenever we do get where we're going, we won't have to worry about any worn down brakes, possibly bald spots in our tires. more

So in addition to your braking system, you're also going to need your tow bar, which provides the connection between your motor home and your vehicle, your safety cables, which is the supplemental connection in addition to your tow bar, your baseplate, which provides that connection point on your vehicle side, and either your diode wiring or magnetic lights, however you want to transfer your lighting signals from your motor home to the back of your vehicle so people around you know your intentions when going down the road. We're now all hooked up to our motor home. more

The way we did we left enough room that the customer can still store their umbrella underneath their seat the way they had it when they brought the vehicle to us. What this is gonna do for you it's gonna allow your vehicle, your towed vehicle, your Jeep, to brake itself while it's being flat towed. That's gonna save the brakes on the RV and it's gonna be a lot easier to tow the vehicle, you're not gonna feel any push when you're applying the brakes on the RV, you're not gonna feel that push from your vehicle that's being towed.My operating unit is mounted to the floor with self tapping screws, my wiring, my airline tube, and my vacuum line is all ran, I had it routed underneath this panel up to the firewall. more

Speaker 1: Today on our 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with our 2016 Jayco Seneca motorhome on a Freightliner chassis, we will be having a look at and showing you how to install the Roadmaster BrakeMaster System with BrakeAway. Part number RM-9160.Here's what our Roadmaster BrakeMaster looks like installed. As you can see, we have this very substantial cylinder here, which will apply pressure to our brake pedal to apply the brakes in our Wrangler. This will give us the necessary and required supplemental braking system that we're looking for, which is in many cases required by law in most states and Canadian provinces.This is a truly proportional braking system. This will only apply our brakes when the brakes are being applied on our motorhome, so you don't have to worry about any false braking. By proportional, we are getting equal braking pressure to what the air brakes are being applied on in our motorhome.Now when compared to other braking systems, which are permanently attached inside your vehicle, when this is not in use, we don't have to worry about having a cylinder that's clamped to our brake pedal with an anchor point to our firewall. more

Part number is RM-8700.Now, as we apply our brakes in our Coach, you'll see the InvisiBrake apply the brakes in our Jeep. Now we're can apply the brake here in the Coach and watch for the red light to come on. There'll be a slight delay. Roadmaster InvisiBrake Braking System Installation - 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited- Video
Today in our 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with our 2016 Forest River on a Mercedes Benz chassis RV, we'll be having a look at, and installing, the Roadmaster InvisiBrake Supplemental Braking System, part number RM-8700. Here's what our monitor light looks like installed. When our brakes are applied on our RV, and then the brakes are triggered in the Jeep, we will see the indicator light that comes on to let us know the brakes are working in the car. If a problem was to occur, and the brakes are being held on for too long inside of our Jeep, we would have an audible buzzer. When you're at a stop sign for an extended period of time, you'll notice my foot hasn't left the brakes, but our indicator light shut off. It does that so it doesn't damage the compressor inside the Jeep, because you're already stopped, but when you go back to your pedal, it turns back on. We have pulled the break away pin on the Jeep. Now you can hear the beeping sound, which indicates that there's a problem. The brakes are hanging up, or in our case, the break away pin has been pulled. more

Today on our 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, we'll be having a look at and installing the Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles, part number RM-88400. Here's what our brake light relay looks like installed. While we're in our fuse box here, our brake light switch will no longer have power going to it unless the key is in the on position because the relay kit taps into a keyed ignition source fuse. This way when your brake pedal is depressed by your braking system, you don't have to worry about your vehicle's brake light switch overriding the motor home's turn signals if they are engaged while the motor home is slowing down. Now when you uncouple from your motor home, you don't have to worry about flipping any switches or doing anything. As soon as you turn on your ignition source inside your Jeep, your brake light switch will become active again and your brake lights will function just as they normally did. What's nice about this, there's no switches or special procedures you need to do in order to get your vehicle more into tow mode. Now that we've gone over some features, we'll show you how to get it installed. more

Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit Installation - 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited- Video
Today, on our 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, we'll be having a look at and installing the Road Master Brake Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles, part number RM-88400. All right. With our key out of the ignition, when we step on the brake in our vehicle, simulating our towed vehicle braking system pressing down on the pedal, we don't have any brake lights in the vehicle right now, which is a good thing. Otherwise, if we didn't have this brake light relay installed, when our brake pedal was depressed, the brake lights in the vehicle would come on, potentially overriding the RV's turn signals, which would control our towed vehicles turn signals as well when it's hooked up. When we put our key in the ignition and turn it on, we now have functional brake lights on our Jeep. Whenever we're ready to drive our Jeep normally, we don't have to worry about flipping any switches or unplugging anything. The relay takes care of it for us automatically and will have normal brake lights as needed. When our vehicle's in tow-mode and hooked up to the RV, all the functions for the tail lights and brake lights and turn signals will work off of the RV side, so we don't have to worry about the pedal causing our Jeep's brake lights to come on when it's depressed. more

Today on our 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, we'll be installing the Road Master brake light relay kit for towed vehicles. Part number RN-88400. Here's what our brake light relay kit looks like installed. Goes into an existing fuse tap on the vehicle. This will allow you to hook up to a supplemental braking system when you're flat towing your Jeep. That way when the brake pedal is depressed inside the Jeep, you don't have to worry about that overriding the turn signal signal coming from the motor home and you'll only have your brake lights on the back of the Jeep and you don't have your turn signal functioning working properly. With this in place, your brake light switch inside the vehicle does not have any power going to it unless the key is in the on position of the Jeep when you're driving it. more
